I found out Kelly was pregnant two days after I was promised my new job, a week before Kelly graduated and two weeks before I turned 30. at the time we were planning on traveling for the foreseeable future to Europe, Africa and ending up in New Zealand with my brother for a year. Funny how a little white stick changes everything (a few little white sticks in our case as we were not convinced by the first one).We decided to say in Boulder due to my job and the fact we had built a nice little community through Kelly's master program at Naropa. Kelly got some part time work and we took the pregnancy seriously -- this little being didn't need the toxic and chemicals most of us expose ourselves to via our "affluent" lifestyle. We wanted to do things as naturally and wholesomely as possible to give he little tike the best possible start we could.
Kelly advocated for a home birth and the more I learned about the medical model the more I grew fond of the idea. We interviewed and chose an amazing lady, Elizabeth Moore, to help guide us in our journey. While I started my new job Kelly made sure she exercised, ate right and read almost every book there is on natural birth. Nine months flew by and we also tried to make sure we spent alone time together as we knew everything was about to change.
